Bounded and iReside are the two best-rated tax-and-visa day trackers on the iPhone — Bounded with the deeper preset library and photo backfill, iReside with the weighted Substantial Presence Test and a CPA portal. Stretch is the third option, on both phones, with the counter free forever. Here is how I would choose.

## Who each one is for

Pick [iReside](https://doastretch.com/compare/stretch-vs-ireside/) if your accountant is the audience: the weighted US Substantial Presence Test, states and provinces, and a portal your CPA can log into. Pick [Bounded](https://doastretch.com/compare/stretch-vs-bounded/) if the preset list is the audience — the widest on the store — and you will audit every day its photo import writes. Both are iPhone-only, both charge for the counting, and neither shows where a rule came from.

**That last gap is the one Stretch fills, on Android too, with the counter free forever → [the rulebook](https://doastretch.com/visa/).**

## TL;DR

| Feature | Bounded | iReside | Winner |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Platforms | iPhone, Mac, Vision Pro; Android "planned" | iPhone and a web dashboard | **Bounded** — barely |
| Price | $5.99/mo; annual tiers to $149.99 | Trial, then $3.99/mo or $34.99–39.99/yr | **iReside** |
| How days get logged | Background location, photo backfill | Background location; migration on request | **iReside** |
| Tax tests | 183-day, SPT, SRT, NHR, Cyprus, UAE, US states | 183-day, weighted SPT, states, provinces | **Bounded** for breadth; **iReside** for SPT |
| Visa rules | Schengen, UK, ESTA, B1/B2, India | Schengen, 40+ trackers, visa-free lookup | **iReside** |
| Privacy | No account, no uploads | Label lists name, email, precise location | **Bounded** |

These are the two apps a tax-nervous iPhone traveller chooses between in 2026, and both earn the shortlist: Bounded (4.7★ from 214 US ratings in six months) is the broader, iReside (4.8★ from 50) the more tax-office-shaped.

## Quick verdict

| If you want… | Choose |
| --- | --- |
| The deepest tax-and-residency presets on iPhone | Bounded |
| The weighted Substantial Presence Test and a CPA portal | iReside |
| No account, nothing linked to your name | Bounded |
| The same app on iPhone and Android | **Stretch** |
| The counter free forever, and a source on every rule | **Stretch** |

## Bounded at a glance

**What it is.** "[Country Days Tracker](https://doastretch.com/compare/stretch-vs-country-days-tracker/): Bounded" by Wasl Apps LLC, launched February 2026. It detects the country you are in each day from low-power background location, rebuilds past trips from the location tags on your photos, and counts them against 100+ presets: 183-day rules, the UK Statutory Residence Test, the US Substantial Presence Test, Portugal's NHR, Schengen 90/180, US ESTA and B1/B2, and presence clocks for naturalisation. It stores passports, visas and permits and exports PDF and CSV. Its site says "no account, no uploads, no data collection".

**Price.** Free to download with a trial, but the store says a subscription is required for GPS auto-tracking, saved history and full access: $5.99 a month, or an annual tier listed at $19.99, $29.99, $49.99, $69.99, $99.99 or $149.99 (checked 17 August 2026). Which one you are offered is not explained, and per my August 2026 market review some reviewers were charged a different price from the one shown.

**Platforms.** iPhone (iOS 18+), Apple Silicon Mac, Vision Pro. Android is "planned".

**Rating.** 4.7★ from 214 US ratings, 4.6★ from 250 UK. Version 1.10.0, 16 August 2026.

## iReside at a glance

**What it is.** "iReside: [Tax Residency](https://doastretch.com/tax-days/) & Visa" by G2M Ventures LLC, on the store since January 2024, renamed to lead with visas in 2026. It uses "privacy-conscious, battery-efficient background location tracking" to build a day-by-day history across countries, US states and Canadian provinces, and counts it against the 183-day rule, the Substantial Presence Test with the weighted three-year IRS formula, and Schengen's rolling [90-in-180](https://doastretch.com/alternatives/best-schengen-calculator-apps/). It ships 40+ visa and residency trackers, a visa-free lookup for around 200 destinations, alerts before a visa expires, PDF and CSV reports, a dashboard and a CPA portal.

**Price.** A 30-day free trial, then $3.99 a month, or a year listed at $34.99 and $39.99 on the US App Store (checked 17 August 2026); the website quotes $34.99. There is no permanent free tier.

**Platforms.** iPhone (iOS 16.6+) and the web dashboard. No Google Play listing.

**Rating.** 4.8★ from 50 US ratings. Version 2.0.2, 5 August 2026.

## Stretch at a glance

**The app.** A counter for every country you enter, on iPhone and Android. Log the day you land — two taps — and it shows the days left, the date you must be out, and reminders at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It counts limits that reset when you leave and rolling windows like Schengen's 90-in-180; [the free calculator](https://doastretch.com/tools/schengen-90-180-calculator/) does that one in your browser. Every rule carries a source and a checked date, free forever.

**Stretch+.** $49.99 a year, or $149 once for life: GPS you confirm at each border, [tax-day tallies](https://doastretch.com/tax-days/), travel-history PDFs, and the Visa Desk, which prepares your entry forms with you; you review, pay the government and submit.

## Feature comparison

### How days get logged

Bounded's twist is history: it reads the GPS tags on your camera roll and rebuilds years of trips. Clever — and where its reviews go sour. One reviewer found it "showed dozens of trips that never happened"; another wrote that "if you don't take a photo on the day of traveling… there's ZERO accuracy". Its live tracking reads much better. iReside has no photo backfill; a reviewer moving from [Domicile365](https://doastretch.com/compare/stretch-vs-domicile365/) says the team "helped me migrate all my historical residency data".

Winner iReside — a day it counts is a day you were there. (Stretch goes further: GPS stays on the device and you confirm every border.)

### Which tax tests

Bounded's tax library is the widest on the App Store: 183-day, SPT, UK SRT bands, Portugal NHR, Cyprus 60-day, UAE rules, US states, citizenship clocks. iReside covers fewer jurisdictions but implements the Substantial Presence Test with the weighted three-year formula, and counts US states, territories and Canadian provinces.

Winner Bounded for breadth; iReside if the SPT decides your year.

### Which visa rules

Bounded ships Schengen 90/180, the UK Visitor visa, US ESTA and B1/B2 and India's caps. iReside ships Schengen, 40+ visa and residency trackers, and the thing Bounded lacks: a visa-free lookup by passport for around 200 destinations. Neither shows where a rule came from; you take the preset on trust.

Winner iReside — the lookup matters when the next country is not in the preset list. (Stretch publishes every rule with its source at [doastretch.com/visa](https://doastretch.com/visa/).)

### Alerts, and who is shipping

Bounded warns you as you near a limit you set. iReside pushes alerts at 10, 5 and 3 days before a visa expires; its schedule is the more explicit. Both teams are shipping: Bounded's 1.10.0 and iReside's 2.0.2 both landed in August.

Winner Tie — both tell you before it is too late. (Stretch reminds at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days and on the day, free.)

### Documents and the accountant

Bounded stores passports, visas and permits, and exports counts as PDF or CSV. iReside exports "audit-ready" reports and adds a CPA portal, so your accountant reads the record directly. If someone else files your return, that portal is worth real money.

Winner iReside — built for the person who files for you.

### Privacy and platforms

Bounded has no account and no uploads; its App Store label lists purchases, coarse location and usage data. iReside says "your location data is never stored or shared with third parties", but its label lists precise location, address, email, name and phone as linked to you — a portal needs an account, and an account is a server with your name on it. Bounded also has Mac and Vision Pro apps, Android "planned"; neither is on Google Play.

Winner Bounded — nothing to sign up for, and a Mac app; but if your partner has an Android phone, neither helps.

### Price

iReside is simple: $3.99 a month, or $34.99–39.99 a year, after a 30-day trial. Bounded is not: $5.99 a month, and six annual amounts from $19.99 to $149.99 on one listing. Its paying reviewers sound happy — "Best £ I've spent on an app in ages" — but a listing that can charge $149.99 for a day counter should say who pays that. On the maximum tier it is nearly four times iReside's price.

Winner iReside — one price you can plan around. (Stretch: the counter is free forever, Stretch+ $49.99/yr.)

## Can't decide? The third option: Stretch

Both are good at their half of the job. Both are iPhone-only, both put the counting behind a subscription, and neither says where a rule came from.

|  | Bounded | iReside | Stretch |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Platforms | iPhone, Mac, Vision Pro | iPhone and web | **iPhone and Android** |
| Free tier | Trial, then subscription | Trial, then subscription | **Counter and alerts free forever** |
| Paid price | $5.99/mo; annual to $149.99 | $3.99/mo; $39.99/yr | **$49.99/yr or $149 for life** |
| Which visa rules | Schengen, UK, US, India | Schengen, 40+, a ~200-country lookup | **Every destination on your passports** |
| Where the rules come from | Not shown | Not shown | **Source and checked date** |
| Accountant portal | No | **Yes** | Travel-history PDFs (Stretch+) |

## Choose Bounded if you…

- hold several presence tests at once — SRT bands, NHR, ESTA, a citizenship clock;
- want years of past travel rebuilt from your photo library, and will audit it;
- refuse to create an account, and want a Mac app too.

## Choose iReside if you…

- live in the US tax system — weighted SPT, states, provinces — and your accountant wants a portal, not a PDF;
- want a visa-free lookup by passport before you book;
- want one price and a 30-day trial, and do not mind an account.

## Choose Stretch if you…

- **have one iPhone and one Android between you**, or might switch;
- **want the counter, the alerts and your documents free forever** — no trial that ends;
- **want the source and checked date on every visa rule**, and logging that never writes a day you did not confirm — with your entry forms prepared at the Visa Desk.

## How we evaluated

- How a day gets into the log, and whether it is a day you were really there
- Which tax tests and visa rules each counts, and what the accountant gets
- Whether a rule shows its source and its checked date
- Price by maximum tier, platforms, privacy labels, and the reviews

## Frequently asked questions

**Is Bounded or iReside better for tax residency?**

iReside is better for US tax residency: the weighted Substantial Presence Test, states and provinces, and a CPA portal. Bounded is better for breadth — SRT bands, NHR, UAE rules, citizenship clocks. Stretch+ tallies [tax days](https://doastretch.com/tax-days/) from the same log as your visa days.

**Is Bounded free?**

Not for the counting. It is free to download with a trial, but a subscription is required for GPS, saved history and full access: $5.99 a month, or an annual tier from $19.99 to $149.99 (17 August 2026). Stretch's counter and alerts are free forever.

**Is iReside free?**

No. iReside has a 30-day free trial, then $3.99 a month or $34.99–39.99 a year (checked 17 August 2026). There is no free tier.

**Are Bounded and iReside on Android?**

No — neither has a Google Play listing. Bounded says Android is "planned"; iReside is iPhone-only with a web dashboard. Stretch is on both.

**What does Stretch do that Bounded and iReside do not?**

Stretch runs on Android as well as iPhone, keeps the counter and alerts free forever, has one price ($49.99/yr or $149 for life), shows the source and checked date on every rule, and adds a Visa Desk for your entry forms.
