## Who each one is for

Pick Domicile365 if an audit is a real possibility and you need a location record a tax authority can verify — signed, server-held, down to the US state and city. Pick Stretch if your job is not overstaying a visa and staying under 183 days somewhere, and you would rather your whereabouts stayed on your phone.

**Start with [how tax-residency days are counted →](https://doastretch.com/tax-days/).** Domicile365 is the audit-defence tool; Stretch is the everyday counter, and the counting part is free.

## TL;DR

| Feature | Stretch | Domicile365 | Winner |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What it counts | Visa days and tax days, every country | Tax days by country, state, city, province | **Stretch**; Domicile365 for US detail |
| Price | Free counter; Stretch+ $49.99/yr | $19.99/mo, about $220–240 a year | **Stretch** |
| Location | On-device GPS you confirm | Pings every 15 minutes, uploaded to servers | **Stretch** |
| Proof you can hand over | Travel-history PDFs | Signed PDFs with a QR code, verifiable online | **Domicile365** |
| Where the rules come from | Source and checked date on every rule | Thresholds you set yourself | **Stretch** |
| Documents | E-visas on the stay they cover | Location logs only | **Stretch** |
| Platforms | iPhone and Android | Also Mac, iPad, Windows and web | **Domicile365** |

Domicile365 is the forensic end of this shelf and honest about it: continuous logging, a record that cannot be edited later, signed PDFs a tax authority can scan. If you are defending a New York residency audit, $19.99 a month is cheap next to the lawyer. Most travellers are not, and Stretch counts the days free.

## Domicile365 at a glance

**What it is.** A tax-residency day tracker from Manchester Financial Group Inc., on both stores since 2019. It records your location in the background — the Play listing says "15-minute GPS polling plus push location pings" — uploads it to its servers, and counts days by country, US state, city and province. It carries named residency tests for the UK, the US, Puerto Rico, Monaco, UAE and Italy, plus a Schengen 90/180 counter. It exports CSV logs and cryptographically signed PDFs with a QR code and Export ID that anyone can verify on its site, and an Advisor Portal gives your CPA read-only access.

**Price.** $19.99 a month for an Individual subscription — the same on the website and in both stores. Paid monthly that is $239.88 a year; the annual plan with "one month free" is about $219.89. There is a 60-day trial, then nothing free.

**Platforms.** iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, a Windows tray app that logs every four hours, and a web dashboard.

**Rating.** 4.7★ from 209 ratings on the US App Store and 4.5★ from 12 ratings with 500+ installs on Google Play. Reviews split between praise for support and complaints about the battery: "This app saps your battery power SO fast." Its own FAQ concedes that "some Apple iOS users have encountered a level of battery drain that is not acceptable."

## Stretch at a glance

**The app.** Log the day you land — two taps — and Stretch shows the days you have left, the date you must be out, and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It counts limits that reset when you leave and rolling windows like [Schengen's 90-in-180](https://doastretch.com/tools/schengen-90-180-calculator/) from one log, keeps your e-visas on the stay they cover, and shows every rule's source and checked date at [doastretch.com/visa](https://doastretch.com/visa/). All of that is free, forever.

**Stretch+.** $49.99 a year. It adds Explore, on-device GPS logging, tax-day tallies, planning, travel-history PDFs and the Visa Desk — the Visa Desk prepares your tourist-visa and entry-declaration forms with you; you review, pay the government and submit. iPhone and Android, with no account, no server and no analytics.

## Feature comparison

### What gets counted, and where the rules come from

Domicile365 counts presence: where were you at each ping, and how many days is that per jurisdiction against a target you set. It is a tax-days engine first; the Schengen counter is a bolt-on, and beyond that it has no visa rules. Stretch starts at the other end, with the rule for the country you just entered and the exit date set the moment you log it; Stretch+ tallies the tax days from the same entries, and every rule shows its source, checked date and trust label. For "how many days in Connecticut", Domicile365 asks it more precisely.

Winner Stretch — both clocks from one log, each rule with receipts; Domicile365 for sub-national US detail.

### Where you are, and where that goes

Here is the fork. Domicile365 logs continuously — "100+/- locations per day", every one uploaded to its servers, deliberately, because (its FAQ) "server-stored records can't be edited after the fact" while a file "sitting only on your phone" cannot be verified. That is coherent for audit defence. It also means a company holds a fifteen-minute trail of your years, and the App Store privacy label lists precise location, name, email and user ID as linked to you. Stretch's GPS logging runs on the device, asks you to confirm each border, and uploads nothing — there is no Stretch server.

Winner Stretch — on-device, confirmed by you, never uploaded.

### Proof, and the devices it runs on

Credit where it is due: Domicile365's signed PDF is the best hand-over document on this shelf. Any calendar or fiscal year, with a QR code and Export ID a tax authority can scan to confirm it has not been altered. Stretch's travel-history PDFs are clean, dated and per-stay, built for the desk and the accountant, but nobody can verify them online. It also runs where Stretch does not: Mac, Windows and the web.

Winner Domicile365 — the verifiable record, and real desktop coverage.

### Reminders, the exit date and your documents

Domicile365 emails and pushes you as you near a threshold you set. Stretch sets the must-exit date the moment you log an entry — the rule is already there — and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. Domicile365 exports location logs but does not hold your visas; Stretch keeps e-visas on the stay they cover and links the arrival cards you must complete before you fly.

Winner Stretch — the rule is pre-loaded; you do not set your own limit and hope it is right.

### Support

Reviewers thank Domicile365's support repeatedly: "Responsive, complete, and understanding", and "Responsive customer service. Latest update really speeded up report loading." Stretch is built and supported by one nomad who runs his own stays on it.

Winner Tie — Domicile365 has a team reviewers vouch for; Stretch has the maker.

### Price

Domicile365's top tier is $19.99 a month: $239.88 a year paid monthly, about $220 on the annual plan, nothing free once the 60-day trial ends. One five-star reviewer puts it fairly: "It is a little expensive but pays me back with reduced taxes." Stretch's counter and documents are free forever, and Stretch+ is $49.99 a year, one-sixth of that. If the signed record saves your audit it is worth every penny; if you only need the days counted, you are paying for a feature you will never use.

Winner Stretch — $49.99 against $220–240, with the safety part free.

## Choose Domicile365 if you…

- need a signed, verifiable location record because an audit is a real possibility;
- count days by US state and city, or under the UK SRT, Monaco or Puerto Rico Act 60;
- want your CPA in an advisor portal and your laptop logging while your phone sleeps;
- are comfortable with continuous location upload to someone else's server.

## Choose Stretch if you…

- **enter countries with a number attached** — Schengen, Thailand, Japan — and want each rule's source on the screen;
- **want the counter, the alerts and your documents free, forever**;
- **want tax-day tallies from the same log as your visa days**, for $49.99 rather than $240;
- **want GPS that stays on the phone** and never pings a server.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is Stretch better than Domicile365?**

Yes, for anyone whose job is not overstaying a visa and staying under 183 days somewhere: Stretch counts every country's days free forever, keeps GPS on the phone, and Stretch+ adds tax tallies and the Visa Desk for $49.99 a year. Domicile365 is better if you need a signed record, US state counts, or a desktop app.

**How much does Domicile365 cost a year?**

$19.99 a month — $239.88 a year paid monthly, or about $219.89 on the annual plan with one month free (checked 17 August 2026). There is a 60-day trial and no permanent free tier. Stretch+ is $49.99 a year, and the counter is free forever.

**Does Domicile365 track your location all the time?**

Yes. It records continuously in the background — "15-minute GPS polling plus push location pings", "100+/- locations per day" — and uploads the record to its servers so it cannot be edited later. Stretch logs on the device and uploads nothing.

**Does Stretch produce a signed PDF like Domicile365?**

No. Stretch's travel-history PDFs are dated, per-stay records for a border desk or an accountant, but no third party can verify them online. Domicile365's signed PDFs are the strongest audit-defence export on the shelf; if you need one, it is the right tool.

**Does Domicile365 count visa days?**

Only Schengen. It has a 90/180 counter alongside its tax tests, and no rulebook for other countries' limits or e-visas. Stretch counts stay days for every destination on your passports, each rule with a source and checked date, published at [doastretch.com/visa](https://doastretch.com/visa/).
