Orbis is a tidy Apple-only tracker with a document wallet, from $19.99 a year. Stretch answers the Schengen question free in your browser and shows where every rule comes from. Here is how I would choose.

Pick Orbis if you live on Apple devices and want your Schengen days, visa countdowns, tax days and passport scans in one app for $19.99 a year. Pick Stretch if you want the Schengen answer now, free, in any browser; if you are on Android; or if you want to see where each rule came from before you trust it.

Orbis does more than most apps on this shelf and charges less. It is also Apple-only, five months old, rated by two people, and it does not show where its rules come from. Stretch gives you the Schengen answer free, on anything with a browser, and every rule in the app carries its source and the date I last checked it.

## Orbis at a glance

**What it is.** "Orbis Tracker" on the App Store, from Skylake Labs in Singapore, released 9 March 2026 and on version 2.7 since 17 June. It shows Schengen days used and left in a rolling window, warns you at 30, 14, 7 and 3 days, plans future trips, scans your passport, stores documents behind Face ID, exports CSV, PDF and Excel, and can log country changes from your location or from photos. Its own words: "a privacy-first travel compliance app built for digital nomads, expats, and frequent international travelers."

**Price.** Free to download. Premium is $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $39.99 once (£4.99, £19.99, £39.99 in the UK). The support page says "basic tracking features are free" but does not list which ones.

**Platforms.** iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision. No Android; the FAQ says it is "still on the roadmap".

**Rating.** 3.0★ from 2 ratings in the UK, none shown in the US. Too few to mean anything yet.

## Stretch at a glance

Type in your Schengen trips and it shows days used, days left and, if you are still inside, the last day you may stay. Nothing you type leaves your browser. It only covers the visa-free short stay, and it is not EU software.

**The app.** Counts every country on your passports from one log, sets your must-leave date when you log an entry, reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days, and keeps your e-visas on the stay they cover. All of that is free, forever. Every rule shows its source and the date it was last checked, and I publish them at [doastretch.com/visa](https://doastretch.com/visa/). Stretch+ ($49.99 a year or $149 once) adds the Visa Desk, GPS logging, tax-day tallies and planning. iPhone and Android.

## Feature comparison

### What gets counted

Orbis keeps one log and reads three things off it: Schengen days, a visa countdown and days against a tax threshold. Stretch's log feeds every rule shape a border uses, including per-entry limits that reset when you leave, and the counter for every country is free. Orbis's free tier is undefined.

Winner Stretch — every country, and the free part is spelled out.

### Your last legal day

"Days remaining" is not the same as "when must I leave?". Old days drop out of the 180-day window while you spend new ones, so your real last day can be later than 90 minus days used. Orbis shows a "Leave by" date, which is more than most apps do, but nothing on its site says how that date is worked out. Stretch's calculator counts forward day by day and tells you.

One more thing neither Orbis's listing nor its site says: whether the day you arrive and the day you leave both count. They do. 1 March to 10 March is 10 days, not nine. [Here is why](https://doastretch.com/guides/do-entry-and-exit-days-count/).

### EES and ETIAS

EES has recorded every external-border crossing since 10 April 2026. It does not change the 90/180 rule and no app can read it. ETIAS is a travel permit, not a day counter, and has not started. Credit to Orbis: its EES article gets all of this right. The App Store listing says nothing about either. Stretch says it on the calculator page and in [the EES guide](https://doastretch.com/guides/ees-2026-how-schengen-days-are-counted/).

Winner Tie.

### Documents, logging and exports

This is where Orbis is best. It scans the passport's machine-readable zone, stores "passports, visas, insurance, flights, and 16 other document types" behind Face ID, exports CSV, PDF and Excel, and puts your counts in a widget. The one UK reviewer's whole reason for five stars: "the visa widget is my life saver." It also logs country changes automatically. Stretch keeps documents on the stay they cover and logs GPS on-device in Stretch+, but it is not a document wallet.

Winner Orbis — a real wallet, three exports and a widget.

### Price

Orbis is cheaper than Stretch+ on every tier: $19.99 a year against $49.99, $39.99 once against $149. On the free side it is the other way round. Stretch's calculator has no tier at all, and the app's counter, exit date and reminders never cost anything, so a lapsed card cannot cause an overstay.

### Where the rules come from

Orbis advertises "190+ countries" and "6 tax calculation methods". Only three methods are named, and I could not find a source or a checked date behind any rule. Stretch shows both on every rule, tells you when a rule is not yet verified, and publishes the lot at [doastretch.com/visa](https://doastretch.com/visa/).

**Is Stretch better than Orbis?**

Yes for a free Schengen answer, for Android, and for rules that show their source. Orbis is the better buy if you are Apple-only and want a document wallet and exports in one app, and it is cheaper than Stretch+.

**Is Orbis free?**

Partly. Download is free and "basic tracking features are free", but Orbis does not list which. Premium is $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $39.99 once (29 August 2026). Stretch's calculator and the app's counter are free with no tier to outgrow.

**What is the best Orbis alternative?**

No app does, and Orbis does not claim to. Its website explains EES correctly; the app listing does not mention it. Stretch does not read EES either, and says so.

**Is Orbis on Android?**

No. iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision only; Android is "still on the roadmap". Stretch's calculator runs in any browser and the app is on both stores.
