**How we know**

Every figure here is as services.bahrain.bh publishes it, checked 18 August 2026. Where a number is our own arithmetic rather than a printed figure, the row says so.

## What to know before you apply

No dedicated digital nomad or remote-work visa. The closest long-stay route is the Golden Residency Visa, a 10-year renewable residency. Verified from Bahrain's own eService page: aimed at retired non-resident foreigners; evidence required is a pension certificate of "minimum 4000 BHD"; 10-year grant; BHD 5 non-refundable application fee plus BHD 300 residency fee; 5 working days; passport valid 6+ months, six-month bank statement and Bahrain-issued medical insurance. IMPORTANT: the official page prints "minimum 4000 BHD" without saying whether that is monthly or annual, so no period is asserted here. The other Golden Residency categories (property owner, talented, resident professional) could not be confirmed — npra.gov.bh refuses TLS connections, goldenresidency.gov.bh serves an anti-bot challenge and evisa.gov.bh returns 403 — and a BHD 200,000 vs BHD 130,000 property-threshold disagreement between sources is unresolved.

## What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days. Bahrain treats you as tax resident once you are present 183 days At least 183 days of physical presence in the Kingdom in the year for which a Certificate of Residence is required. This is a certification criterion only — there is no personal income tax charge behind it. — though the system is territorial, so foreign income may fall outside it. Days are not the only test: For the Certificate of Residence the day count is the sole criterion for individuals and is applied strictly: "The applicant must be physically present in the Kingdom of Bahrain for a period or periods of at least 183 days in the year for which the COR is required... This criterion is absolute and failure to meet it will lead to the rejection of the COR application." The National Bureau for Revenue verifies presence directly with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs authority.
