**How we know**

We could not reach an official government page for this one when we checked. What follows is the best published source we could read — treat it as a lead, not as the rule, and confirm with the consulate.

## What to know before you apply

Georgia has no digital nomad visa in force. The "Remotely from Georgia" programme, launched in 2020, is defunct: its official site remotelyfromgeorgia.gov.ge no longer resolves in DNS at all (checked 2026-08-18), and it appears on no current government portal. What Georgia does offer instead is far more generous than most nomad visas and needs no application: under Ordinance No 255 of the Government of Georgia of 5 June 2015, citizens of the 94 countries listed in its annex may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for one full year. That is the route most remote workers actually use. Those who want a legal footing for their income typically register as an Individual Entrepreneur with Georgia's Revenue Service and apply for Small Business Status, and long-stayers may apply for a temporary residence permit. NOT VERIFIED: the Small Business Status tax rate and its turnover ceiling, and the temporary residence permit conditions - no page on rs.ge or the Public Service Development Agency was fetched, so no figures are asserted here. Note also that the visa-free ordinance governs entry and length of stay only; it does not by itself address what economic activity is permitted or what triggers Georgian tax residence.

## What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days. Georgia treats you as tax resident once you are present 183 days 183 or more days of actual stay in Georgia in any continuous 12-calendar-month period ending in the tax year; residence then applies for the entire current tax year — though the system is territorial, so foreign income may fall outside it. Days are not the only test: Article 34 of the Tax Code of Georgia: a person is a Georgian resident for the whole tax year if they actually stayed in Georgia for 183 or more days in any continuous 12-calendar-month period ending in that tax year, or if they were abroad in the public service of Georgia during that tax year. Time spent outside Georgia specifically for treatment, leisure, business trip or education counts as time of actual stay in Georgia. Time is NOT counted where the person was in Georgia as a person with diplomatic or consular status or their family member; as an employee of an international organisation acting under a Georgian international agreement, or in the public service of a foreign country in Georgia, or their family member (other than Georgian citizens); while moving from one foreign country to another via Georgia; or for treatment or leisure. Separately, Georgian residency may be granted without the day test to a high net worth individual, under the procedure and conditions determined by the Minister of Finance of Georgia; a high net worth individual is a person as defined by the Law of Georgia on Securities Market. Residency may also be granted to a Georgian citizen whose residency cannot be established in relation to any country, on application to the tax authority, and to a foreign natural person in cases and under a procedure defined by the Minister of Finance.
