## What to know before you apply

No dedicated digital nomad visa exists and no draft was traceable. A full-text search of the consolidated Law on Foreigners for "digital", "nomad" and "remote" returned zero hits; the Ministry of the Interior's residence-permit checklists cover only marriage, employment, permanent residence, family reunification, study and posted workers; and the Public Revenue Office's site search returns no records for digital nomads, so there is no nomad tax regime either. Real long-stay routes: temporary residence under Art. 71 for work, study, exchange, specialisation, volunteering, research, medical treatment, family reunification or humanitarian reasons, plus a route for EU or OECD nationals who own residential property worth at least EUR 40,000. Art. 72 requires means of subsistence, accommodation and health insurance with no published income figure; residence is extended a year at a time and decided within 30 working days. Visas are only three types, and the D visa allows a stay of up to 30 days with validity up to 90, issued only after the residence decision. Fees: D visa EUR 70, C visa EUR 60 (children 6-12: EUR 35). Unresolved: the official gazette's 2025 register lists an amendment to the Law on Foreigners at Sl. vesnik 193/2025 which the Ministry does not list and the consolidated text does not incorporate; the gazette text is paywalled, so its content is unknown — there is no evidence it concerns digital nomads and none that it does not.

## What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days you actually spend. Check North Macedonia's tax authority for the day test that applies to you — and count the days either way.

**How does Stretch help with the North Macedonia stay?**

Log the day you land and Stretch counts the days against the permission you are on, shows the date you must be out, and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It also tallies the days that count towards tax residency, so the 183-day question answers itself. The counting and the alerts are free, forever.
