## What to know before you apply

No dedicated digital nomad or remote-work visa. Qatar Tourism's official visas page lists only short-stay routes: visa-free entry for 102+ nationalities, GCC nationals visa-free, Hayya entry visas (A1 tourist QAR 100, A2 GCC residents, A3 QAR 100), visa on arrival at QAR 100, a joint Qatar-Oman tourist visa valid 30 days and extendable, and a 4-day airport transit visa. The closest long-stay route is the employer-sponsored Work Residence Permit, which requires a Qatari sponsor and so does not cover remote work for a foreign employer. Qatar's Permanent Residency Permit (Law No. 10 of 2018) exists but its criteria could not be verified: hukoomi.gov.qa, gco.gov.qa and the Hayya visa-types page all returned 403 and MOI's catalogue is JavaScript-only.

## What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days. Qatar treats you as tax resident once you are present 183 days Residing in the State for a period exceeding 183 consecutive or intermittent days within twelve months — though the system is territorial, so foreign income may fall outside it. Days are not the only test: Article 1 of Law No. 24 of 2018 defines a resident natural person as one who meets ANY ONE of the following: (a) has a permanent residence in the State; (b) has resided in the State for a period exceeding 183 consecutive or intermittent days within 12 months; (c) has vital interests in the State. The full tests and the official source are on our [Qatar tax-day page](https://doastretch.com/tax-days/qatar/).
