## What to know before you apply

Tanzania has no digital nomad or remote work visa. The official Tanzania eVisa portal's published Visa Guidelines contain no reference to 'nomad' or 'remote work' — a keyword scan of the full guidelines text returned zero matches for either term. The guidelines describe the Ordinary Visa (required of "All visitors wishing to come for tourism purposes"), the Multiple Entry Visa (required for US passport holders), Transit and Referral visas. Note the guidelines state "If an applicant wishes to visit both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, he/she is advised to select his first destination while filling the form. But he will be allowed to visit both places without a need for a new Visa" — so Zanzibar is covered by the same national visa. No official Zanzibar digital-nomad or workation permit could be found on any Tanzanian or Zanzibari government site; claims of one appear only on private property and relocation sites. NOT VERIFIED: Tanzania's residence-permit classes. The Immigration Services Department issues residence permits via eservices.immigration.go.tz, but that portal was not read and the immigration.go.tz residence-permits page renders only via JavaScript ("You need to enable JavaScript to run this app"), so no permit class, duration or fee is recorded here.

## What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days you actually spend. Check Tanzania's tax authority for the day test that applies to you — and count the days either way.

**Does a digital nomad visa in Tanzania make you tax resident?**

A visa and tax residency are different things: the visa lets you stay, the tax rules follow the days you actually spend. Check Tanzania's tax authority for the day test that applies to you.

**How does Stretch help with the Tanzania stay?**

Log the day you land and Stretch counts the days against the permission you are on, shows the date you must be out, and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It also tallies the days that count towards tax residency, so the 183-day question answers itself. The counting and the alerts are free, forever.
