## How the counting works

The Department of Inland Revenue describes itself as the Bahamas' 'Central Revenue Administration'. The taxes it names on its own site are Value Added Tax, Business Licence Tax, Real Property Tax, Departure Motel and Transfer Tax (D.M.T.T), Condo-Hotel Tax and Vacation Rental Tax — personal income tax does not appear among them. The Bahamas levies no income, capital gains, inheritance or wealth tax on individuals. Practical consequences for a nomad: there is no Bahamian income tax to plan around, but there is also no ordinary tax-residency certificate for treaty purposes, since the Bahamas has essentially no income tax treaty network to invoke; your home country's departure rules, not Bahamian arrival rules, will decide your position. CRS reporting still applies to accounts held in the Bahamas. The tax year is left null because the Department does not publish an income tax year; VAT and other filings run on their own cycles. This entry documents an absence of tax, so treat the null fields as findings, not gaps.

## Why the day count is the part you can control

Ties, homes and intentions are argued after the fact; days are a record. That is why the first thing an adviser asks for is a list of the days you were in the country — and why reconstructing it from boarding passes and photos a year later is a bad afternoon. Log each stay as it happens and the tally is simply there, with the dates that produced it. If you are moving to Bahamas to work remotely, the [Bahamas digital nomad visa page](https://doastretch.com/nomad-visa/bahamas/) covers the permission side.

## Questions people ask about Bahamas tax residency

**How many days can you spend in Bahamas before becoming tax resident?**

Bahamas does not decide residency on a single day count. The tests are set out by the tax authority on the page linked below. Count your days anyway — they are evidence, and other countries' tests use them.

**When is Bahamas's tax year?**

See Department of Inland Revenue's page linked below; the tax year sets the window your days are counted in.

**Are residents of Bahamas taxed on worldwide income?**

Not in the usual way: Bahamas taxes on a territorial basis, so foreign-source income may fall outside the net. The Bahamas is reported to run a remote-work permit (BEATS — Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay); we could not verify its current status or terms from any source we read, so no detail is recorded. There is no income-tax special regime because there is no income tax. Confirm your own position with the authority or an adviser.

**Is there a special tax regime for people moving to Bahamas?**

The Bahamas is reported to run a remote-work permit (BEATS — Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay); we could not verify its current status or terms from any source we read, so no detail is recorded. There is no income-tax special regime because there is no income tax. Conditions and time limits apply; the official page below is the place to check them.

**How does Stretch count tax days for Bahamas?**

Every stay you log feeds the tally: Stretch counts the days you were present against the country's test in the right window, so "how long was I actually there?" is answered before your accountant asks. Tax-day tallies are part of Stretch+; the day counter and the alerts are free forever.
