Schengen Simple wins, and not narrowly: forward planning without a paywall, a real border-desk mode, the best support on this shelf, a rating nearly two stars better. 90 Days Schengen's case is a free counter on Android — but the reviews holding it at 3.0★ report a forecast that "gave erroneous days" and trips that vanished.

Schengen Simple at a glance

What it is. A Schengen 90/180 planner from Roycroft Labs Ltd (UK; App Store since 2022, Google Play since April 2025). Enter every trip, past and planned, and the calendar shows under each date how long you could stay if you entered then, without wrecking a trip you have booked. Passport Control mode lays your days in any 180-day window out for the officer. iCloud sync, multiple travellers, tested against the EU's calculator.

Price. One week free, then a yearly "Full Access" subscription: £7.99, £8.99, £9.99 or £14.99 on the UK App Store; $8.99–$54.99 per item on Google Play for multi-traveller plans. No permanent free tier.

Platforms. iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android.

Rating. 4.8★ from 2,422 UK App Store ratings; version 4.1.9, 22 July 2026. Google Play shows 10K+ downloads and no score yet. What reviewers write about is the support: "I received a reply at 8.42 that same Saturday morning" (5★, July 2024).

90 Days Schengen at a glance

What it is. An Android-only Schengen calculator by elgatovital (Vitaly Katz, Potsdam), on Google Play since 2019, with the biggest install base there. It gives your permitted length of stay — not the same as days remaining, the developer stresses, because days you get back mid-trip count too. It keeps your history, counts down an open trip, and says when you may re-enter after an overstay.

Price. The counter is free. Future trips, a future control date and weekly Google Drive backup need the subscription: $4.49 per item on the US Play listing, "about €5 per year" in the developer's own reply, after a trial that wants a card.

Platforms. Android only.

Rating. 3.0★ from 694 Google Play reviews (3.1★ from 663 on phones), 100K+ downloads, updated 9 June 2026. The complaints are the sort that matter here: "Forecast gave erroneous days and I ended up overstaying" (1★, July 2022). And fairly, from the other side: "Best 90/180 calculator app there is, I've tried them all" (5★, October 2021).

Stretch at a glance

What gets counted

Both count the rolling 180-day window against the EU's calculator. Schengen Simple is tested against it, and holds today's trip down so a booked one fits. 90 Days Schengen is sound on paper, but its reviews record numbers people could not reconcile: "moved from a few days over to 47 days in credit in less than a week" (1★, February 2020). A calculator you must double-check is not a calculator. Neither counts Thailand, Japan or Mexico.

Forward planning and the border desk

Schengen Simple shows your allowance under every future date and warns you when a change puts a booked trip at risk: "It limits my current trip to make sure I don't accidentally overstay during my future planned trips" (5★, February 2026). Passport Control mode then lays those days out for the officer, though no officer has to accept it. On 90 Days Schengen a future trip is paid, and the countdown was not made for the desk.

Winner Schengen Simple — no extra charge for the thing people install a Schengen app to do, and a border mode made for the moment.

Reminders

90 Days Schengen pushes one notification when an open trip drops to 3 permitted days — the only alert either app sends, and only if you left the exit date blank. Schengen Simple flags overstay risk, but only once you open it.

Backup, platforms and support

Schengen Simple runs on four platforms and syncs through iCloud, so a new phone keeps your history. 90 Days Schengen is on-device only; Drive backup is paid, and the reviews carry the consequence — "when I changed phones, the days didn't follow" (4★, October 2024). Schengen Simple's named human answers on Saturdays; 90 Days Schengen gives an email and replies to reviews.

On the sticker, 90 Days Schengen wins: a free counter, and a subscription a fraction of the other. But the free part is the part you least need, and the part you came for costs $4.49 a year with a card up front. Schengen Simple's £7.99–£14.99 buys the whole tool, support included.
