Best Country Days Tracker alternatives
Country Days Tracker is the most complete day counter on the App Store and the meanest free tier in the niche: the free version shows the last seven days, and Pro is $34.99 a year. Here are the eight alternatives worth your time, Stretch first. Every price checked and dated.
Who this is for
You downloaded Country Days Tracker and hit the wall: the free version shows seven days, Pro is $34.99 a year, and there is no Android app. Here are the eight alternatives, Stretch first — and it still wins a row below.
Start with how tax-residency days are counted →. Counting days is the easy half; knowing your limit is the rest.
TL;DR
| Need | Winner | Runner-up | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best overall | Stretch | Bounded | Every country's rule, one log, free |
| Best free alternative | Stretch | TravelMax | No seven-day window, no trial |
| Best on Android | Stretch | TaxBird | The whole counter on Google Play |
| Best automatic GPS on iPhone | Bounded | Nomad Tracker | 4.7★ from 214 ratings |
| Best for the UK residence test | Flamingo Compliance | Country Days Tracker | Real SRT depth, to $119 a year |
| Best for rebuilding history | Country Days Tracker | Bounded | Photo metadata plus Flighty imports |
Country Days Tracker deserves its reputation: automatic counting, 183/365 and custom ranges, Schengen 90/180, custom areas for states and cities, photo and flight import, and since July 2026 absence rules for UK indefinite leave. Its 4.0★ average hides a split: five stars from those who paid, one star from those who did not.
Why people look for a Country Days Tracker alternative
- The free version shows the last seven days. A rolling 90-in-180 count needs 180 days of history; a week cannot do that arithmetic. "You want to track your location for more than 7 days? Then you better be ready to pay up" (BrandonMLewis, 1★, US, 12 February 2025). The developer's reply: it is "designed to give users a glimpse of the app's capabilities" — a shop window, not a safety net.
- $34.99 a year for the counting. Pro is $34.99 a year or $5.99–$6.99 a month, £23.49 in the UK (checked 17 August 2026).
- The paywall is the front door. "The app is advertised as having great features yet when you download it you are instantly met with a paywall" (Catlover695, 1★, UK, 8 February 2025).
- No Android you can rely on. Its site links only to the App Store, and no Google Play listing could be tied to its developer (checked 17 August 2026). On Android it is not an option at any price.

How we evaluated
- What the free tier lets you do, and whether it keeps you legal on its own
- Whether the app knows the rule, or asks you to type it
- Platforms, and Android in particular, where half the market has no incumbent
- Price at each maximum tier, and what the reviews say (August 2026)
1. Stretch — the counting is free forever
My own app. Log the day you land — two taps — and it gives you the days left, your must-leave date and reminders at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days, for rolling windows like Schengen's 90-in-180 and limits that reset when you leave. The counter keeps your full history with no card behind it, and every rule shows its source, checked date and trust label, published at doastretch.com/visa. It is new, not yet on the stores (waitlist), with no photo backfill.
Price. Free forever: counter, exit date, reminders, documents. Stretch+ $49.99 a year adds GPS you confirm at each border, tax-day tallies and the Visa Desk, which prepares your entry forms; you review and pay the government yourself.
2. Bounded — best automatic counting on iPhone
The 2026 breakout, listed confusingly as "Country Days Tracker: Bounded" (Wasl Apps, 4.7★ from 214 US ratings) logs your country by GPS, rebuilds past years from your photos, and runs 100+ presets at once. "I've tried the others and they all got my days wrong. This is reliable, accurate" (terica ervin, US, June 2026). But the backfill invents days — "It showed dozens of trips that never happened" (phurnbeats, US, June 2026) — and there is no Android.
Price. Free manual logging; Premium $5.99 a month; annual tiers of $19.99, $29.99, $49.99, $69.99, $99.99 and $149.99 (checked 17 August 2026).
3. iReside — best tax-residency alternative on iPhone
A GPS day tracker for people splitting time between US states and countries — the Substantial Presence Test with its three-year weighting, 183-day rules — which added visa tracking in 2026 (4.8★ from 50 US ratings). Its PDF reports are built for your accountant, with a CPA portal. But it is iPhone only, your timeline sits on its server behind an account, its visa rules carry no source, and nothing is free once the trial ends.
Price. A free trial (the store says 30 days; iReside's FAQ says 14), then $3.99 a month; yearly listed at both $34.99 and $39.99 (checked 17 August 2026).
4. TaxBird — the Android answer for US states
A residency day tracker from ware2now LLC, on the App Store since 2017 (3.9★ from 239 US ratings). Background location counts days per country, US state, Canadian province and New York City, warns you as you approach a threshold, and produces a yearly report — and it is one of the very few day trackers with a real Android app. But an account is mandatory, missed locations are a recurring complaint, and it knows no visa rule.
Price. 30-day trial, then $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year (checked 17 August 2026).
5. Nomad Tracker — the most generous free tier
Gotzon Zabala's iPhone app (version 3.7) gives away what rivals charge for: GPS tracking, Schengen 90/180, the 183-day rule, the FEIE test and US state tracking. But Pro holds the alerts, so the free counter counts and never warns you, which is backwards for a safety tool; 5.0★ from one US rating is not a track record; and there is no Android. Despite the name, no relation to Stretch.
Price. Free tier; Pro $3.99 a month; yearly $14.99 or $29.99; lifetime $69.99 or $129.99 (checked 17 August 2026).
6. Domicile365 — audit defence, at six times the price
Manchester Financial Group's tracker records your location continuously — 15-minute GPS polling, per its Play listing — uploads it to servers so the record cannot be edited, and counts days by country, US state and city against named regimes: the UK Statutory Residence Test, the US Substantial Presence Test, Puerto Rico Act 60 (4.7★ from 209 US ratings). Its exports are signed PDFs with a QR code a tax authority can verify, and it is on Android and Windows. But a company then holds a fifteen-minute trail.
Price. $19.99 a month — about $240 a year monthly, roughly $220 annually. 60-day trial, no card (checked 17 August 2026).
7. Flamingo Compliance — deepest tax rules, three tiers
AccuraSoft's "Tax Residency & Visa Tracking" (4.4★ from 47 US ratings) counts countries, US states and cities against thresholds you set, naming the UK Statutory Residence Test and the US presence tests, and adds permit expiry alerts and an IATA-synced passport index. But it is iPhone only, with three tiers to decode, and reviewers who paid describe a second paywall.
Price. Settler $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year; Resident $5.99 or $59.99; Globetrotter $11.99 or $119.00 (checked 17 August 2026), after a 30-day trial.
8. TravelMax — free, with no in-app purchases
A one-developer iPhone app from Germany (Maximilian Mende, version 1.8) that detects country changes by GPS, works out your visa-free days by nationality across 242 countries, runs Schengen and 183-day counts, and alerts you before a limit. It is free and means it: no tier, no trial, no window. But it has no ratings five months in, and its day figures carry no source.
Price. Free, no in-app purchases (checked 17 August 2026).
What decides it
The free tier, and the price at the top
Country Days Tracker gives you seven days; TaxBird, iReside, Domicile365 and Flamingo give a trial and then nothing; Bounded and Nomad Tracker hold back the alerts. Stretch gives you the counter, the exit date and the reminders free.
Winner Stretch on the free tier — never withdrawn. On yearly price a split: Country Days Tracker at $34.99, TaxBird and iReside at $39.99 all cost less than Stretch+.
Knowing the rule versus typing it
Every rival asks you for the number: Country Days Tracker a limit and a range, Bounded a preset, the tax apps a threshold. Stretch holds the rule for the passports you carry, with a source and a checked date.
Winner Stretch — a sourced rule beats a number you half-remember.
Android, and automation you can trust
Country Days Tracker has no Android app we could confirm, and most rivals here are iPhone only; TaxBird and Domicile365 are on Google Play, both tax tools with no free tier. Domicile365 uploads a fix every fifteen minutes; Stretch's logging stays on the device, and asks you to confirm each border.
Winner Stretch — both phones, and never a day you did not spend; credit to TaxBird and Domicile365 for being on Android.
Rebuilding history
Country Days Tracker rebuilds years from photo metadata and imports flights from Flighty and App in the Air; reviewers call it a lifesaver, and only Bounded is close.
Winner Country Days Tracker — the best backfill on the shelf.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Country Days Tracker?
Stretch is the best alternative for most travellers: the counter and reminders are free forever with full history where Country Days Tracker shows seven days, each rule is sourced and dated, and it runs on Android. To rebuild years from photos, keep Country Days Tracker for an afternoon.
Is there a free alternative to Country Days Tracker?
Yes: Stretch (free forever), TravelMax (free, no in-app purchases), Nomad Tracker (free counting, paid alerts) and Bounded (manual logging). TaxBird, iReside, Domicile365 and Flamingo end in a paywall.
Why is Country Days Tracker's free version limited to 7 days?
Because the free tier is a preview, not a product — the developer's own reply calls it a "glimpse of the app's capabilities". A rolling 90-in-180 window needs 180 days of history, so seven days cannot answer it.
Is Country Days Tracker available on Android?
Not that we could confirm: its site links only to the App Store, and no Google Play listing could be tied to its developer (checked 17 August 2026). The Android alternatives are Stretch, TaxBird and Domicile365.
Which alternative is best for tax-residency days?
It depends how much proof you need. Stretch+ ($49.99 a year) counts tax days from the same log as your visa days; iReside is the best iPhone-only tax app at $34.99–$39.99, TaxBird counts US states, Domicile365 signs the record.
Can I move my history from Country Days Tracker to Stretch?
Yes. Export a PDF or CSV from Country Days Tracker Pro while your subscription is live, then log those stays in Stretch with real dates; the counts then correct themselves.
