What to know before you apply

No dedicated digital nomad visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs fee schedule enumerates every visa Armenia issues (visitor 21-day and 120-day, multiple-entry 60-day and 120-day, official, diplomatic, transit) with no nomad category, and the residency page enumerates every residence ground with none either; searches of mfa.am and migration.am for "nomad" return nothing. What exists instead: 45 countries have unilateral visa-free stay of up to 180 days per year (including the USA, UK, EU states, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UAE, Switzerland), with a further time-limited exemption in force 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027 for nationals of 111 countries holding a six-month-valid residence permit from the USA, EU, Schengen, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Oman. Visas are issued for up to 120 days, extendable by 60. Temporary residence cards run one year, renewable one year, decided within 30 days; permanent cards run five years. Consular fees from 1 January 2026 (AMD): visitor up to 21 days 3,000; up to 120 days 15,000; multiple-entry 60-day 20,000; multiple-entry 120-day 40,000. Residence fees: temporary 105,000, permanent 140,000 (reciprocity rates apply for US citizens). Crucially, working remotely for a FOREIGN employer is not a listed temporary-residence ground — the grounds are study, holding a work permit, family, running business activity in Armenia, or Armenian origin — so the only realistic route for an independent remote worker is registering business activity in Armenia. Tax: residency at 183 or more days in the tax year (arrival and departure days each count as full days) or centre of vital interests, income tax 20% (Tax Code Arts. 25 and 150, cited from arlis.am, the Ministry of Justice's official legal information system, because the State Revenue Committee's own legislation pages are empty).

What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days you actually spend. Check Armenia's tax authority for the day test that applies to you — and count the days either way.

How does Stretch help with the Armenia stay?

Log the day you land and Stretch counts the days against the permission you are on, shows the date you must be out, and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It also tallies the days that count towards tax residency, so the 183-day question answers itself. The counting and the alerts are free, forever.
