What to know before you apply
Egypt has no digital nomad or remote work visa. The official Egypt e-Visa Portal, operated by the Ministry of Interior, publishes exactly two visa products and their fees: "Single entry visa (Tourism) 30$" and "Multiple entries visa (Tourism) 65$". No remote-work, freelance or nomad category appears anywhere on the portal or its FAQ. Closest long-stay routes: a tourist visa (30 days on arrival or by e-visa) with extensions applied for at the Mogamma/passport offices, or a residence permit tied to work, study, investment or family. Nothing found indicates a dedicated Egyptian nomad visa has been created or formally announced as of 18 August 2026.
What it means for your tax days
A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days. Egypt treats you as tax resident once you are present 183 days MORE THAN 183 days, continuous or intermittent, within any twelve months — note this is a rolling twelve-month window, not the tax year, and the test is 'exceeding' 183 days rather than '183 or more'. Days are not the only test: Article 2, Income Tax Law No. 91 of 2005: a natural person is resident in Egypt in any of the following cases — (1) if he has a permanent home in Egypt; (2) residing in Egypt for a period exceeding 183 days, continuous or intermittent, within twelve months; (3) an Egyptian performing his official duties abroad and receiving his income from an Egyptian treasury. The Executive Regulations set out the rules for determining the permanent home and the effective place of management. The full tests and the official source are on our Egypt tax-day page.

How does Stretch help with the Egypt stay?
Log the day you land and Stretch counts the days against the permission you are on, shows the date you must be out, and reminds you at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days. It also tallies the days that count towards tax residency, so the 183-day question answers itself. The counting and the alerts are free, forever.
