What to know before you apply

Ghana has no digital nomad or remote work visa. The Ghana Immigration Service lists, for visas issued in-country, only the Transit Visa, Visa on Arrival / Emergency Entry Visa and Re-Entry Visa; its residence permit categories are Student Residence Permit, Work and Residence Permit (Companies), Work and Residence Permit (Missionaries/NGOs/GIPC Shareholders) and Dependent Residence Permit. GIS states that "Visas issued in any of Ghana's 56 Diplomatic Missions abroad cover single or multiple journeys for periods between six months to five years". Closest long-stay route for a self-supporting foreigner: entry on a visitor visa followed by an application to extend, or the Right of Abode / indefinite residence route for people of African descent (a separate GIS service). No remote-work category exists.

What it means for your tax days

A visa is permission to stay; tax residency follows the days you actually spend. Check Ghana's tax authority for the day test that applies to you — and count the days either way.
